Today the versatile musician / composer Bart van Dongen turns 60. This memorable fact is celebrated with the presentation of three new CDs on which Bart plays the acoustic piano.
He usually takes his faithful Wurlitzer piano and Syrinx synthesizer with him, where he crawls behind the grand piano. Over time Bart worked with various musicians on this project in which two musical principles are central: improvisation and equality. “Instant composing” that’s what it’s all about this afternoon.
On site the tempi, atmosphere, form, dynamics and notes are chosen by musicians who work together in an equal role. Each of them constantly changes position; initiator, respondent, team player, listener and crossbar. This afternoon Bart plays solo, in a duo and trio context.
