DUO DUO: GLITS & VAN DONGEN/CAPEL
26 Nov 2021 @ 19:30 - 20:30€12,50
G.L.I.T.S. (Getting Lost In Tiny Spaces), Getting lost in small (sound) spaces. Peter Vandenberghe and Bart Maris enthusiastically dive into this adventure as a duo, after 30 years of working together in various larger formations (X-Legged Sally and Flat Earth Society, to name the most famous). As a duo, they look for more direct musical dialogues in ever-changing soundscapes using compositions by Bart and freely improvised pieces (Tiny Spaces).
Edward Capel and Bart van Dongen are no strangers to each other. They have been playing together in VLEK and Eddy & the Ethiopians for years, but in this collaboration Bart and Edward are looking for other ways. Starting with unison (one-voice) lines composed by Capel they deviate, come back, turn around and continue in another composed line by Edward. These mini compositions are also shared with the other duo. There are even more paths to take, get lost on and return to.
Edward Capel graduated in 1992 from the Brabant Conservatory. He studied saxophone, improvised music and composition at the Brabant Conservatory and wrote compositions for improvisation ensembles, big band, saxophone quartet and fanfare. He works as an independent saxophone teacher, ensemble leader, composer and freelance musician.
Musician and well-known Bossche artist Bart van Dongen is not afraid to get behind organs and makes beautiful records of them; such as the Smits organ from 1852 in Schijndel (NL) from which the record ‘Free Circle’ emerged with catchy titles such as ‘Hé?’, ‘Wat?’ en ‘Hoezo?’.
