Just as composer Giacinto Scelsi could spend hours dreaming away when playing one note on the piano, pianist / composer Bart van Dongen can be fascinated and listen to the sound of one tone for a long time. What a wealth of upper and lower tones then appears. In the silence room 4’33 during November Music, Van Dongen will play for 7 days between 3.30 pm and 4.30 pm on his almost 100-year-old harmonium.
Starting with a single note and adding one to it the following days. Ending in a seven-part agreement. Van Dongen enters into a dialogue with a different musician every day in his performance. These are recruited in the musicians who are already present at the festival. They are also instructed to play as sparingly as possible. Only slow tones.
