Electric Grand – A bamboo cathedral for a piano.
Ever hung your head in a piano or played under the grand piano as a kid while your mom was playing? New? Grab your chance now! Electric Grand is a project by visual artist Antoon Versteegde and pianist Bart van Dongen where each tone of the piano has its own speaker. These 72 speakers hang above your head in Versteegde’s bamboo installation. The shape of the installation adapts to the environment. Now it is a multitude of towers, then it is a single very large pyramid or many man-sized palisades. The constant is that the speakers are spatially arranged and that Van Dongen lets them sound through the grand piano.
Electric Grand can be seen on November Music on tour during Theater Festival Boulevard ‘s-Hertogenbosch on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 August. Tickets are available at https://www.festivalboulevard.nl/nl/programma/id-7701/electric-grand/
