VLEK

From this season onwards, Willem Twee Muziek presents a band of mainly Brabant musicians twice a year, each presenting a new repertoire. This is edition two of our house band: VLEK.

The exceptionally driven and contrary collective VLEK has its roots in improvised music, jazz and alternative rock music. With more than one hundred and fifty years of combined stage experience, this ensemble guarantees a musical adventure full of spontaneous discoveries. VLEK was created in 2009 during a session at the Tilburg music venue Paradox. Almost immediately afterwards it was decided that this was a real band. VLEK has played on many stages and festivals since then.

All band members compose music for VLEK. With their new repertoire they have once again conjured up surprising music: driving dance beats, dirty rock riffs, catchy melodies, African grooves, and cinematic vistas.

A VLEK concert is a roller coaster: from melodic to unruly, from exciting to tranquil, from big band to heavy metal, from wistful melancholic to unabashedly cheerful. VLEK stands for fun, adventure and improvisation at the cutting edge: expect the unexpected.
