Exactly 40 years ago, on October 12, 1979, the Stichting Bevordering Muziekimprovisatie (SBM) was founded in Tilburg. The Foundation soon acquired its own stage through financial support from a large group of jazz lovers and jazz musicians who all guaranteed a sum. All this was enough to take out a mortgage for a jazz club. A crowdfunding campaign avant la lettre and also the start of Paradox.
